Automated Robotic Disassembly

R3 performs automated robotic disassembly using purpose-built tooling and adaptive motion planning.

The system compensates for design variation, tolerances, and component conditions to deliver consistent disassembly performance.

Repair, Reuse & Material Recovery

Our precision disassembly processes recover usable components and materials, enabling operators to determine the most valuable downstream pathway across repair, reuse, second-life, and recycling.

Data, Traceability, and Operations Software

Disassembly steps generate structured process and component-level data.

R3 enables traceability, regulatory reporting, and operational optimization, integrating with OEE systems, digital product passports, and downstream processes.

Battery Identification and Diagnostics

Built for EV battery disassembly, the R3 system uses 3D Vision and model interpretation to identify battery packs, modules and their components in real time.

FAQ

R3 Robotics — frequently asked questions

What does R3 Robotics do?

R3 Robotics automates industrial-scale disassembly of complete electric vehicle systems — battery packs, e-drives, power electronics and other high-value components. The platform combines purpose-built robotic cells, computer vision and adaptive motion planning to dismantle complex high-voltage assemblies safely and at industrial throughput.

Is R3 Robotics the same company as Circu Li-ion?

Yes. R3 Robotics is the rebranded name of Circu Li-ion S.A. The legal entity remains the same; the rebrand reflects R3’s focus on robotic disassembly across the broader electric vehicle stack, not just lithium-ion batteries.

Where is R3 Robotics based?

Two locations: headquarters in Foetz, Luxembourg, and a lighthouse disassembly facility with engineering and operations in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Does R3 Robotics recycle batteries?

No. R3 performs disassembly, not recycling. R3’s outputs - sorted, clean modules with full per-pack traceability - feed downstream battery recycling, reuse and material -recovery operators. The two industries are complementary, not the same.

What battery formats does R3 process?

Over 100 EV pack formats today, covering approximately 74% of Europe’s end-of-life BEV return volume. New formats are onboarded through R3’s Battery Intake Process and added to a shared product library that improves performance across all R3 installations.
